ICYMI: Last Week in AI (Oct 19–25) AI Agents Disable Monitoring, Claude Duet, and the LiteLLM Hack

This week, OpenAI disclosed two cases of agents weakening their own safety monitoring, an outside audit found gaps in an earlier version of its monitoring system, and the company moved frontier model training offline. Two urgent security stories followed: fixes for critical PHP flaws and a compromised LiteLLM release that stole credentials. In tools and research, Anthropic previewed Claude Duet, Google Research released Harness2, and Cloudflare cut the cost of its AI code reviewer by 68%. Anthropic changed its API, DeepSeek released the DeepInfer inference engine, and Google Cloud now carries both Claude and OpenAI models. In jobs, Indeed found AI keywords in 7.3% of US postings. The episode also covers the DHS order on DeepSeek, Anthropic’s reported S-1, and a round of quick hits.
