Drupal Association blog: Drupal launches Drupal 11, the latest version of the Open Source CMS

Drupal 11 continues enhancing the strengths of the platform. It makes structured content, workflows, and content governance more flexible and easier for ambitious builders.

Automatic Updates and Project Browser are two key features slated for a future release of Drupal 11 and are currently under development as contributed modules.

Automatic Updates module will apply patch-level updates to Drupal core in a separate, sandboxed copy of your site to keep you up and running without any interruptions. It can detect and report problems at every stage of the update process, so you don’t have to discover them after an update is live. It automatically detects database updates and helps you run them during the process.

Project Browser will make it easy for site builders to extend the functionality, look and feel of Drupal. It provides a search interface in the Extend section of the Admin UI to find contributed modules and themes and research their capabilities. Once an extension is selected, instructions are provided on installing it on your site, all without leaving your website.

About GNU Health Patchsets


We provide “patchsets” to stable releases. Patchsets allow applying bug fixes and updates on production systems. Always try to keep your production system up-to-date with the latest patches.

Patches and Patchsets maximize uptime for production systems, and keep your system updated, without the need to do a whole installation.

NOTE: Patchsets are applied on previously installed systems only. For new, fresh installations, download and install the whole tarball (ie, gnuhealth-4.4.1.tar.gz)

Updating your system with the GNU Health control Center


You can do automatic updates on the GNU Health HMIS kernel and modules using the GNU Health control center program.

Please refer to the administration manual section ( https://docs.gnuhealth.org/his/techguide/administration/controlcenter.html )

The GNU Health control center works on standard installations (those done following the installation manual on wikibooks). Don’t use it if you use an alternative method or if your distribution does not follow the GNU Health packaging guidelines.

Installation Notes


You must apply previous patchsets before installing this patchset. If your patchset level is 4.4.0, then just follow the general instructions. You can find the patchsets at GNU Health main download site at GNU.org (https://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/health/)

In most cases, GNU Health Control center (gnuhealth-control) takes care of applying the patches for you. 

Pre-requisites for upgrade to 4.4.1: None

Now follow the general instructions at

After applying the patches, make a full update of your GNU Health database as explained in the documentation.

When running “gnuhealth-control” for the first time, you will see the following message: “Please restart now the update with the new control center” Please do so. Restart the process and the update will continue.

Play Store could soon handle updates for sideloaded applications

Android 14 introduced the ability for application stores to claim ownership over application updates, to ensure other installation sources won’t accidentally update applications they shouldn’t. What is still lacking, however, is for users to easily change the update ownership for applications. In other words, say you install an application by downloading an APK from GitHub, and later the application makes its way to F-Droid, you’ll get warning popups when F-Droid tries to update that application. That’s about to change, it seems, as Android Authority discovered that the Play Store application seems to be getting a new feature where it can take ownership of an application’s updates. A new flag spotted in the latest Google Play Store release suggests that users may see the option to install updates for apps downloaded from a different source. As you can see in the attached screenshots, the Play Store will show available updates for apps downloaded from different sources. On the app listing, you’ll also see a new “Update from Play” button that will switch the update ownership from the original source to the Play Store. ↫ Pranob Mehrotra at Android Authority Assuming this functionality is just an API other application stores can also tap into, this will be a great addition to Android for power users who use multiple application stores and want to properly manage which store updates what applications. It’s not something most people will ever really use or need, but if you’re the kind of person who does need it – it’ll become indispensable.
