Delta Chat introduces guaranteed end-to-end encryption in 1.42. In previous versions the E2EE was not verified to prevent MitM attacks from the e-mail providers. Now it can be guaranteed by scanning another user’s “QR Invite code”.

First bits of a Haiku compatibility layer for NetBSD

Does anyone here remember Cosmoe? Cosmoe was an attempt to combine Haiku’s API with the Linux kernel and related tools, started in the early 2000s. The project eventually fizzled out, now only an obscure footnote for BeOS diehards such as myself. It seems, though, that the idea of combining the Haiku API with a mature UNIX-like operating system refuses to die, and a few days ago, on the NetBSD Users’s Discussion List, a developer by the name of Stephan picked up the baton. Some years ago I already started to work on a compatibility layer for NetBSD and resumed working on it recently. I think a compatibility layer would mostly consist of kernel components and a custom libroot.so. I have created a libroot that provides functionality missing in libc and it should behave like the original one. It makes use of libc and libpthread at the moment as well as syscalls of the kernel components. The source can be found on Github. This is clearly an experimental project, but Stephan does note he has had success running the Haiku IPC test programs, so it’s definitely more than scribbles on a napkin. The attraction of this idea is clear, too – Haiku API, but on a stable kernel with vastly superior hardware and device support. I’m not entirely sure if it’s got life in it, but even if it doesn’t – it’s amazing work, and that in an of itself makes it a success.

Shannen Doherty : Un combat contre le cancer qui s’intensifie

La célèbre actrice Shannen Doherty se confie ouvertement sur sa lutte contre le cancer dans une longue interview accordée au magazine People. Dans cette entrevue, la star de séries emblématiques telles que Beverly Hills et Charmed fait part de nouvelles inquiétantes sur son état de santé. La maladie, qui avait atteint son cerveau en janvier dernier, s’est désormais propagée à ses os. Une révélation alarmante pour celle qui se bat depuis 2020 contre une rechute de son cancer du sein de stade 4.

Garder espoir malgré la maladie

Malgré un diagnostic au stade terminal, Shannen Doherty reste résolument optimiste. Elle affirme ne pas avoir terminé sa vie, son amour, sa créativité et son espoir de changer les choses en mieux. “Lorsque l’on se demande : ‘Pourquoi moi ? Pourquoi ai-je eu un cancer ?’ puis ‘Pourquoi mon cancer est-il revenu ? Pourquoi suis-je au stade 4 ?’, cela nous pousse à chercher un but plus grand dans la vie”, souligne-t-elle. En décembre, elle lancera le podcast Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty, où elle reviendra sur sa carrière, ses relations amoureuses et ses huit années de lutte contre le cancer.

Une lutte pour la recherche et l’espoir

Shannen Doherty exprime son désarroi face à l’absence de remède efficace contre le cancer. Elle souhaite s’impliquer activement dans la collecte de fonds pour soutenir la recherche. Elle souligne que les idées préconçues selon lesquelles les personnes atteintes de cancer ne peuvent plus marcher, manger ou travailler sont absurdes. Elle insiste sur le fait que la maladie n’est pas une fin en soi et que les personnes concernées sont des individus dynamiques, animés d’une vision de la vie différente. Ils aspirent à travailler, à profiter de la vie et à avancer malgré les obstacles.

VRMLiveViewer est un logiciel permettant de faire danser nos avatars Vroid Studio.
Pour le peu que j’en sais, je pense qu’on peut le considérer comme un équivalent d’un autre logiciel qui existe depuis longtemps : Miku Miku Dance, permettant de faire des clips de danse avec les chanteur.euses virtuels de Vocaloid (comme Miku Hatsune) ou d’autres personnages.
