I’m announcing availability of GNU Screen v.4.9.1

Screen is a full-screen window manager that multiplexes a physical terminal between several processes, typically interactive shells.

This release:

• Support stop/parity bits on serial port
• Add needed system headers in checks and return values for implicit function declarations
• Fixes:

– Avoid zombies after shell exit

– Missed signal sending permission check on failed query messages (CVE-2023-24626)

– manpage fixes

– source code fixes during cleanup

– UTF-8 encoding can emit invalid UTF-8 sequences for out of range unicode values

Microsoft has announced that on 29 July, 2024, the Xbox 360 Store on the Xbox 360 and the Xbox 360 Marketplace on the web will close their doors. For once, one of these service or online store shutdowns is actually being handled well, as Microsoft states: This change will not affect your ability to play Xbox 360 games or DLC you have already purchased. Xbox 360 game content previously purchased will still be available to play , not only the Xbox 360 console but also Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S devices via backward compatibility. While it doesn’t mention downloading existing content you own, several other reports state this is possible. If so, this would make it the fairest way to shut down a service like this. On a related personal note, I should really order a replacement disc drive for my venerable Xbox 360 – an original one, still working other than the broken drive! – and fix it back up. I’ve got a huge collection of 360 games I want to keep being able to play.

This article discusses 4 Drupal modules useful for implementing standard features required by public sector websites.

This just out: minitest-flash reporter – dull as ditchwater yet useful IMO. It simply calls your personal minitest-flash executable (usually a shell script) to trigger whatever fancy red/green notification you like. Safe to use on team projects as nothing happens unless the executable is present. The README showcases my setup for macOS which flashes the menu bar twice in either red or green along with an optional sound effect (mutable in case your ears have better things to do).
