Introducing OSNews merch!

Posted on July 27, 2023 by Michael G
You can become a Patreon, make a one-time donation through Ko-Fi, and now, by popular demand, we have a third option to support OSNews: merch! We’ve just launched our new merch store, currently selling three items – two T-shirts and a coffee mug. First, we have a plain logo T-shirt. It’s a crew (round) neck T-shirt available in ‘Night Sky Navy’ or ‘Herb Green’, with our logo printed top-left on the chest. Second, we have the same logo T-shirt in the same two colours, but with an additional quote printed below it for those of you who really long for the olden days when Eugenia ran this place. This second shirt is a limited edition, and will eventually be replaced by a shirt with a different quote, so get it while supplies last. Both T-shirts are made of 100% organic cotton for that extra soft feel. Each shirt costs $29.99 and ships worldwide. Third, there’s a coffee mug with a logo and a quote for people who are kind of sick of my shit. It’s a mug. It holds coffee (or tea, or gasoline). It’s white. It sells for $19.99 and also ships worldwide. Since I want to be transparent about this – we’re working with a third party store from Richmond, Virginia, US, who produces the shirts and mugs, since we obviously can’t produce them ourselves. The pricing has been carefully set so that for each item sold, OSNews gets about $8. Do note that the items are made-to-order, so shipping takes a little longer than in-stock items from regular stores. I intend to add more items and maybe more colour options in the future (lighter colours are hard with our current logo), but we all have to start somewhere. As always, thanks for all your support – whether it be monetarily or just by being here. It means a lot.

New Mitsubishi Triton / L200 PICKUP 2024

Posted on July 26, 2023 by Michael G
2.4 LT Four Cylinder Diesel Engine, New Generation, New Mitsubishi Triton / L200 PICKUP 2024

The next-generation Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck is based on a new ladder frame chassis and is powered by a turbodiesel engine available in three power outputs.

Mitsubishi introduced the sixth generation of its popular Triton mid-size pickup truck, also marketed as the L200. This new model has been completely redesigned for the first time in 9 years, aimed at increasing its competitiveness against rivals such as the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux. The robust body has been slightly enlarged with greater emphasis on safety and comfort. In addition, it has a newly developed ladder-frame chassis, suspension and a more powerful turbodiesel engine.

The new Triton / L200 has a more angular and rugged look compared to its predecessor while retaining some key Mitsubishi features. Up front, the larger grille stands out, flanked by split headlights and a more discreet version of Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield. The flagship trim features a body-colored grille and black instead of chrome accents. The profile has more sculpted lines on the fenders and a greenhouse very similar to the Nissan Navara, hinting at the relationship between the two pickups. At the rear are larger LED taillights that extend all the way to the profile.

In terms of practicality, Mitsubishi talks about larger and more durable door handles, wider side steps with improved water drainage, a lower cargo bed height of 820 mm (32.3 inches), and solid steps integrated into the rear bumper.

On the inside, the Triton looks more like an SUV than a pickup in terms of design and features. The dashboard features an Outlander-sourced infotainment display, a display between analog gauges, airplane-style controls, soft-padded materials in the touch points, a wireless charging pad, and storage compartments in the center console and horizontal lines.

In addition, available Mitsubishi Connect features include remote control of the air conditioning, headlights and horn from the user’s smartphone. Safety equipment has also been greatly improved with the ADAS package, which now includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Avoidance, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, among other systems. All pavements come standard with Active Stability and Traction Control (ASTC), which is said to improve stability on winding roads.

Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. In addition to a lockable center differential, the truck comes equipped with the Easy Select 4WD or Super Sepect 4WD-II system with a limited-slip differential. In addition, the driver has access to selectable Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand and Rock driving modes.
