MXQ Pro 4K – Restore Your Amlogic Android Box to its Stable State with TWRP

Posted on September 29, 2022 by Michael G
Hi fellow Frugals, in this video, I will teach you how to install a very helpful custom recovery tool. It is called TWRP Recovery, which stands for Team Win Recovery Project.

This has the capability to create a backup of your current operating system, including your user files, applications and accounts. You can later restore this backup anytime you want, especially those times when you feel that your android device is already becoming sluggish.

Mom Opens Box On Driveway To Discover Military Son Holding Flowers | Happily TV

Posted on September 29, 2022 by Michael G
A shocked mom thought she was opening a box containing a new lawnmower – only to be surprised by her military son. Eva’s son, Mark is currently a 2nd Lieutenant with the United States Air Force, and ahead of the surprise he’d been at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for three months. Mark hadn’t told his parents he was set to come home, and when he needed a way to surprise his mom, he liaised with his friend, Wayne, who came up with the idea. Wayne had just purchased a new lawnmower, and so he contacted Mark’s father and said that he no longer needed his old one and would gift it to him for free. It was Mark’s mom, Eva, though, who came out to open the box outside of her Connecticut home. The moment took place in March 2018, when Mark was still a cadet, but Wayne did not share the video until 2022.

Wiki Loves EuroPride Edit-a-thon

Posted on September 29, 2022 by Michael G
, Wikimedia Serbia organized an international edit-a-thon Wiki Loves EuroPride, during which Wikipedia volunteers in Europe and all over the world wrote and improved articles on topics of LGBTIQ+ terms, persons, organizations, festivals, books, cinematography, and all other topics that celebrate human rights and differences. The goal of this event was to combat the prejudice and discrimination that members of the LGBTIQA+ community face daily by spreading free knowledge on Wikipedia and other Wiki projects.
During this period 55 participants from 10 language versions of Wikipedia wrote 166 new articles, and 4 articles were improved.

Oomph Insights: The “Read More” Teaser — A Persistent UX Pattern and How to Manage it with Drupal

Posted on September 29, 2022 by Michael G
A “Read More” Teaser is still a common UX pattern; it contains a title, often a summary, sometimes a date or author info, and, of course, a Read More link. The link text itself may differ — “read more”, “learn more”, “go to article”, and so on — but the function is the same: tell the user that what they see is only a preview, and link them to the full content. In 2022, I’d argue that “Read More” links on Teaser components are more of a design feature than a functional requirement; they add a visual call to action to a list of Teasers or Cards, but they aren’t necessary for navigation or…

TCP/IP Basics by Math

Posted on September 29, 2022 by Michael G
The TCP/IP Protocol is essential for accessing the Internet. This is the only protocol used for the Internet, so it is important to have some understanding.

Before we get to the math, let’s look at some basics.

Basics

Every system connecting to the Internet must run TCP/IP and each connection has a few standard items that you need to understand: IP Address, Subnet Mask, MAC Address, Gateway and DNS Servers. Other items are the DHCP Server, Lease Obtainment and Lease Expiration…

GNU Guix: Wrapping up Ten Years of Guix in Paris

Posted on September 29, 2022 by Michael G

Two weeks ago, some of us were in Paris, France, to celebrate ten years
of Guix
! The event included 22 talks and
12 lightning talks, covering topics ranging from reproducible research
on Friday and Guix
hacking on Saturday
and Sunday.

If you couldn’t make it in Paris, and if you missed the live stream, we
have some good news: videos of the talks and supporting material are
now available from the program
page
!

If you weren’t there, there are things you definitely missed though:
more than 60 participants from a diverse range of backgrounds—a rare
opportunity for scientists and hackers to meet!—, impromptu discussions
and encounters, and of course not one but two crazy birthday cakes
(yup! on one day it was vanilla/blueberry-flavored, and on the other day
it was chocolate/passion fruit, but both were equally beautiful!).

GNU Guix: Wrapping up Ten Years of Guix in Paris

There are a few more pictures on
the web site.

It might seem a bit of a stretch at first, but there is a connection
between, say, bioinformatics
pipelines
,
OCaml
bootstrapping
,
and Guix
Home
:
it’s about deploying complex software stacks in a way that is not only
convenient but also transparent and reproducible. It’s about retaining
control, both collectively and individually, over the “software supply
chain” at a time when the most popular option is to give up.

We have lots of people to thank, starting with the speakers and
participants: thanks for sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm, and
thank you for making it a warm and friendly event! Thanks to the
sponsors of the event without
which all this would have been impossible.

Special thanks to Nicolas Dandrimont of the Debian video team for
setting up the video equipment, tirelessly working during all three days
and even afterwards to prepare the “final cut”—you rock!! Thanks to Leo
Famulari for setting up the live streaming server on short notice, and
to Luis Felipe for designing the unanimously acclaimed Ten Years of Guix
graphics, the kakemono, and the video intros and outros (check out the
freely-licensed SVG
source
!),
all that under pretty tight time constraints. Thanks also to Andreas
Enge with their Guix Europe hat on for addressing last-minute hiccups
behind the scenes.

Organizing this event has certainly been exhausting, but seeing it come
true and meeting both new faces and old-timers was a great reward for
us. Despite the occasional shenanigans—delayed talks, one talk
cancellation, and worst of all: running out of coffee and tea after
lunch—we hope it was enjoyable for all.

For those in Europe, our next in-person meeting is probably going to be
FOSDEM. And maybe this will inspire some to organize events in other
regions of the world and/or on-line meetups!
