Man opens his tent to find an Elk standing right outside of it *Hilarious Happening*

Posted on October 7, 2023 by Michael G
In this amusing video, a man opens his tent flap to find a surprise visitor: an elk standing right outside. The comical aspect of the situation is that the elk’s expression seems to convey a sense of judgment or curiosity, making it appear as though the animal is assessing the man. This video captures a humorous and unexpected encounter between humans and wildlife, highlighting the unpredictability of nature and the delightful moments it can provide. The seemingly judgmental gaze of the elk adds a whimsical element to the scene, making it a laughable and memorable experience for the man and anyone who watches the video. It’s a reminder of the wonder and amusement that can come from our interactions with the natural world.

Centarro: Commerce Stripe release adds Apple Pay + Google Pay support

Posted on October 7, 2023 by Michael G

Drupal Commerce has long integrated with Stripe through the Commerce Stripe project. Multiple members of our team have contributed to the integration over the years, including the Stripe Connect implementation on Drupal 7 and Card Element improvements for the Drupal 9/10 version. However, until recently, we never had significant time to focus on the integration.

That all changed this summer as multiple merchants hired Centarro to expand the module’s capabilities. Each one benefited from the contributions funded by the others, while their own funding ensured the specific features they needed were incorporated into the whole. Most of this work centers around a Payment Element integration, which is now available as of yesterday’s 8.x-1.1 release. 🥳

poke @ Savannah: New GNU poke co-maintainer

Posted on October 7, 2023 by Michael G

I am happy to announce that Mohammad-Reza Nabipoor has just been

appointed as GNU co-maintainer of poke.  When Mohammad joined the

development he brough his enthusiam with him, and has contributed lots of good code, ideas and also helped organizing events, doing great talks, and even printing a batch of the mighty poke t-shirts.

Starting with poke 4, I plan to delegate on Mohammad the maintenance of the stable series, backporting fixes to the corresponding maintenance branches and doing releases whenever appropriate.  That will allow me more time to focus on the development master branch.

Congrats and thank you Mohammad!

Do the Pixel 8’s Magic Editor and Best Take make you uncomfortable?

Posted on October 7, 2023 by Michael G
I don’t necessarily agree. These new editing tools in smartphones are nothing a semi-decent Photoshop user can’t do in an afternoon, and editing photos is as old as photography itself. All these tools do is further democratise photo editing, and this was always going to happen, smartphones or not. Adding watermarks or other markers is never going to work, since even if it’s entirely unfalsifiable – a big if – the vast majority of people encountering edited photos would not go and look at the metadata or whatever to check of the photo is real or not. If people still fall for obvious bullshit like antivax talking points or flat earth hoaxes, a bunch of technobabble metadata isn’t going to stop them.
