Mehmet Sur, widely known as Sirdanci Mehmet, appears to have hidden the pieces of stuffed lamb and even fresh lemon under his armpits in order to take it on board for the mid-flight snack.
He rose to fame through his participation in the popular MasterChef competition program specializing in selling sirdan, a unique Turkish dish of stuffed lamb for which he has garnered a significant following.
In a recent incident aboard a Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Gaziantep, Sirdanci Mehmet caused a stir when he pulled out a sirdan from under his shirt and consumed it.
Allegedly, his action stemmed from his dissatisfaction with the airline’s menu options.
Following the incident, the video quickly hit the rounds on social media platforms, prompting Turkish Airlines to take action.
Concerned about potential damage to their brand reputation, the airline made the decision to add Sirdanci Mehmet to their blacklist.
As a result, Turkish Airlines has imposed a six-month ban on Sirdanci Mehmet, prohibiting him from purchasing airline tickets during this period.
Sirdan is a distinctive dish in Turkish cuisine, featuring the cleaning and stuffing of the fourth section of ruminant animals’ stomachs with seasoned rice. The dish is then cooked in a flavorful tomato-based sauce.
