Open Source AI: Agentic Debugging, Patch Management, 35 Years of Linux

The State of Open Source: AI Integration and Maintenance Challenges This week’s open source news highlights a critical tension: the rapid integration of AI into developer workflows versus the escalating challenges of maintaining healthy, secure projects. From advanced AI coding agents to the persistent struggle with dependency patching, the ecosystem is evolving faster than ever—but … Read more

How to Trace and Debug AI Coding Agents with Omnigent and MLflow

Managing multi-agent workflows across different coding harnesses can lead to fragmented context, lost guardrails, and zero visibility. In this video, discover how to solve these problems by integrating the open-source meta-harness, Omnigent, with MLflow.

Learn how Omnigent unifies context and policies across diverse coding tools while delegating tasks to agents like CodeX and Claude. See step-by-step how to launch an OpenTelemetry environment, run a local multi-agent workflow, and use MLflow Traces to track exact tool calls, measure latency, and monitor token usage.

What you will learn:
🔹 The challenges of switching between multiple AI coding harnesses.
🔹 How Omnigent provides a unified interface and shared context across agent boundaries.
🔹 Setting up your environment and tracking live multi-agent execution.
🔹 Using the MLflow UI to analyze traces, inspect tool chains, and debug failures.

Tackle the systems challenges of Agentic RL at PyTorchCon North America

Agentic RL introduces new systems challenges beyond traditional single-turn RL. At PyTorch Conference North America, Yichuan Wang and Shuhua Yu will discuss how to build an end-to-end agentic RL training loop in PyTorch, covering rollout infrastructure, trainer–serving interaction, environment abstractions, sandbox execution, scheduling strategies, and the tradeoffs between on-policy and off-policy training. They will examine key design choices, practical engineering considerations, and emerging techniques and recipes for scaling multi-turn agent training, drawing lessons from recent open-source and industry systems.

This week in Linux, we learned that NVIDIA might be buying Hugging Face and this AI community platform reportedly rejected extra investment from NVIDIA because they didn’t want one company having too much influence. Now NVIDIA may be buying the entire company. Someone dumped more than 125 bug reports into QEMU in under ten minutes, leading one maintainer to call it an effective denial-of-service attack. Debian finished their debate on what to do with AI contributions and their decision was surprising. LibreOffice has a new release where they made it very clear they aren’t interested in adding Ai tools to summarize the document you just wrote. Plus Flatpak is getting more than half a million euros to improve Linux app security and sandboxing, so that’s awesome. And all of this is happening while Linux celebrates 35 years of the kernel. This is Your Source for Linux GNews so let’s see what happened This Week in Linux.
